As you already know: the world is a fascinating place. There are so many cool places to visit before you die! Remember that often the best surprises sneak in the simple pleasures, so do not always look for the most “popular”, but rather than get off the beaten tourist track and explore!

Here are the 5 most spectacular places to visit before you die. Put them on your travel bucket list, or enjoy the ride in pictures.

1. The Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is a site of extraordinary diversity and beauty on the northeast coast of Australia. It holds the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc. It also contains significant scientific interest as the habitat of species such as the dugong (‘sea cow’) and the green turtle, which are menaced with extinction.

2. The baobab trees in Madagascar

The most remarkable Baobab species found in Madagascar is the Giant Baobab Adansonia grandidieri, these tall reddish-brown cylindrical trees with a bunch of branches right at the top are what line the scenic Avenue of Baobabs, a top sightseer attraction in Madagascar.

This variety is also known as Grandidier’s Baobab and was named after a French botanist, Alfred Grandidier. Blooming with white leaves and dark brown floral buds from May to August and bearing ripe fruit in November and December the trees can grow to 30 metres. Dejectedly, it is listed as endangered on the IUCN list.

3.The incredible Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni is the biggest salt flat in the world. It is one of the most amazing natural attractions of Bolivia. Whether you're walking on the endless white, bleak surface of the bare flats, or admiring the simply perfect reflection of the clouds and blue sky above when there's water - all travellers agree the Salar de Uyuni offers an out-of-this-world experience.

The flats embrace an area of over 10,000 km² and to see the best parts, you'll need to cover quite some ground. While it's possible to explore this unique piece of land on your own, most visitants opt for organized tours along some of the best sights.

4. Skagsanden Beach, Norway

Regardless of the season, Skagsanden is a popular shore on the Lofoten Islands.
It's most known for its charming black-sand patterns and at times perfect reflections of the picturesque mountain in the background.

Skagsanden has become a famous destination for Aurora Chasers and if you're lucky you might get to observe a couple of surfers getting into the arctic water as well.

5. Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia

The Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia’s most attractive tourist attraction, was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Located approximately halfway between the capital city Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, the lakes are a definite must-see in Croatia.

The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometres, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometres.
